Hi,
My love story with recumbent started by a day of July 2008 when by chance I saw the first bent of my life on a video of Youtube. I got immediately hooked and ordered an Optima Baron (just like the one on the video) and soon became a Recumbent Enthusiast who spend most of his week-ends riding in the Santa Cruz Mountains (Santa Cruz Mountains), above San Jose in California, that happen to be one of the best cycling area in US, providing you like cycling in great scenery as well as hill climbing. After more than two years of regular practice I want to share my passion for bent riding with other bent riders but also communicate what I learned during my rides and climbs in this difficult terrain. Recumbent are addictive machines but they are more technical than regular bikes and they are still not very popular so it is still difficult to find good advises that can help you progress in your learning process. So asides of sharing my best cycling experiences, this blog will also provide tricks and reports of my own experience that can help starters but also be of some interest for more experienced riders who are looking for new ideas or tricks. More specifically I am interested in hill climbing, not only because I bike mainly in a very hilly area but also because hard climbing on recumbent is challenging and requires appropriate technique and training. I am not a racer but I try to beat my climbing times at each ride and enroll regularly in cycling events like the Sequoia century here in the Santa Cruz mountains or the Auburn century in the Sierra Nevada.
